Our Process

The creation of Iguana Leather is a meticulous journey that transforms an environmental burden into a luxury icon. Our process is defined by three core pillars: Ethical Removal, Precision Tanning, and Artisanal Finishing.

Step 1

Responsible Sourcing It begins in the field. We partner with professional, state-sanctioned removal experts who manage invasive populations in sensitive habitats. Unlike traditional exotic leather farms, our "wild-harvested" approach ensures that no new animals are bred for the industry. Instead, we utilize a byproduct of essential conservation work.

Step 2

The Art of Tanning These hides are delicate and require specialized handling. Once sourced, the skins undergo a rigorous "liming" and "bating" process to remove impurities without damaging the natural scale structure. We utilize modern tanning facilities that prioritize water recycling and reduced chemical footprints to ensure the leather remains supple yet structurally sound.

Step 3

Dyeing and Finishing Color is where our leather truly comes to life. We use an aniline dyeing process that permeates the entire skin, ensuring the color becomes part of the fiber rather than just sitting on the surface. Finally, the hides are finished according to our clients’ needs—whether that involves high-pressure glazing or hand-buffing for a soft matte texture. Every square centimeter is inspected to ensure it meets our rigorous quality standards before leaving our facility.
